Portal to a New Earth by Suzanne LaGrande, ©2020

In the restless darkness

your mind runs wide awake

circling round plans

dreams of your escapes

Comes a flickering light

A stirring underneath

A vision of pulsing seeds

rising from beneath

A pyramid of light communes

with galaxies far away

a fountain welcomes visitors

with a watery bouquet

The portal to a paradise

a planet once called Earth

all have heard of her beauty

and the difficulty of her birth

The name of the second picture, Portal of the New Earth came easily, as did the painting itself.

I imagined a gateway created to greet star beings from near and far.

At the entrance of the portal was a water fountain in the shape of a tree.

The portal contains an underground pyramid and below that, seed pods and spirals pulsing with life.

There were archways connecting the different points of the pyramid, with the emblem rose at the front.

Above, an inverted pyramid communicates with the energies of the cosmos.

I didn’t plan on creating this painting. It came about like a doodle, except that I began with the intention to be receptive to whatever emerged, to say yes to everything, and to assume that whatever emerges has significance.

You might say, and it would be true, that this painting came from my imagination.

But here is one thing I learned early as I began to explore intuitive ways of knowing: imagination is the portal to other dimensions.

“It’s only a dream,” we tell children, as if the lines between fantasy and reality in the ‘real” world are clear and agreed upon.

But as artists and visionaries know, everything imagined vividly is, in some sense “real”.

We use our imagination to make real the realities we want to believe are true.

We can also use our imagination to travel towards and to bring back new realities.
