Love Rites
( A poem a day, every day for a month #19)
As we do in our hearts
so with our tongues
Let us praise
air and shadows
wave and fire
all that vibrates
radiates
stains and
satiates
As in our hearts as with our tongues
Let us taste
sweet fire
the soft cotton
of snow
all the eager wonders
of waning years
As with our hearts
so with our tongues
let us play
with stiff, uncertain fingers
the music of chance
the strings
and strains of
unmade beds
and dream maps
of unraveling
solitudes.
