Doodle Diary
#1: Window Neurons: 30 Days of Experiments in White on Black
So today begins 30 days of Doodle Experiments.
Since limitations are helpful, here are mine:
1) I have to complete it within 20 minutes or so.
2) I’m fascinated by white on black, so for the next 30 days, this is my medium
3) Give each Doodle a name.
Neurographica and Window Neurons
In the fall I came across a technique called Neurographica. (https://www.neurographica.us/)
Here is roughly how it works.
- Think about something: a concept, an emotion, how you are feeling today. Do a quick doodle or a scribble. Do it fast, or meditatively thinking about the concept orfeeling.
- When it’s done, go back and round out all the corners.
The drawing begins to look like neurons and, according to the inventor of the technique, supposedly it is an out picturing of your brain thinking about this concept.
I’ll leave you to decide of that’s true.
What I find interesting is the idea of doing a visual diary — instead of writing about your feelings, drawing them, or attempting to do so.
I am not sure what I was feeling when I drew this, but I’ve been worried about the somewhat frazzled state of my memory as of late, and I noted, when I drew it, that the connecting points in the drawing looked somewhat frazzled. A coincidence?
